Ask yourself something….

Next time you think of blaming religion for violence, stop and think of the following -

When people blame video games or a tv show or rap music for kids being violent people get upset and say that they’re “scapegoating.”

So why is it okay to blame religion when statistically and historically speaking the majority of wars were NOT religious in nature but rather secular? When the peacefulness of Christianity is actually said to be the cause of the fall of the Roman empire? When atheistic regimes murder Jews in the millions for believing in God? Heck, they kill even Jews who don’t believe in God just because they’re Jews.

I’m sorry, John Lennon was wrong. Imagine is still a horribly bigoted song. Listen to the very last lyric. It shows how terribly close minded he was. It is a song bashing religion when he should’ve been bashing people who try to scapegoat.

Take religion out of it and humans will still find reasons to kill each other. Skin color, taste in music, clothing, etc. Humans are violent by nature. Religion and faith – no matter if you believe in one God or many gods and goddess – at their heart are a force for peace amongst mankind. It encourages us to look beyond our nature to be violent and nasty and kill people and instead embrace everyone with peace, love, and kindness. THIS is the TRUE nature of religion.

Religion is no more to blame for violence then video games, sports, rap music, or Tom & Jerry cartoons. It’s people who choose, of their own free will, to cause violence. People choose to be violent and then scapegoat and make excuses. “My daddy beat me,” “TV made me do it,” “Ozzy Osborn said it was cool.”

No, you choose to do it of your own free will. Be a grown up and own up to your own choices.

To blame religion for violence is to make yourself to be a hypocrite. Otherwise you might as well accept it when a woman who murders her child says she did it because “My mommy never hugged me on my 8th birthday.”
